The statue of Iulia Domna could have been erected under her husband Septimius Severus or under her son Caracalla. According to Mihailov, the occasion for the honours could be connected with one of the imperial visits in Thrace (in AD 202 and AD 214). The use of the nomen Aurelius probably indicates a date after Caracalla's edict of AD 212.
The first archon Aurelius Demetrius son of Apphus is attested in two more inscriptions on statue bases from Augusta Traiana: IGBulg 1556, for Septimius Severus or Caracalla, and IGBulg 1557, for Caracalla.
The patronymic of the first archon, Apphus, is typical for Asia Minor.
